An Introduction to Party & Play / Chemsex (CME, ID-196991)

An interactive session to explore PnP/Chemsex via multimedia, polls, videos, evidence base knowledge, and case scenario discussions.

This 1 credit-per-hour Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Ontario Chapter for up to 3 credits Mainpro+ certified credits.

This session is for healthcare and social service providers. Build knowledge, inclusive communications, cultural competencies & clinical skills in providing patient-centred care for cis and trans gay, bisexual, queer and other men-who-have-sex-with men.

Providing emotional and mental health care and support for 2SGBTQ+ men

The training examines the importance of providing a client/patient-centred approach to Two-Spirit, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer men (2SGBTQ+).  The lack of knowledge, skills and inclusive communications creates barriers to care and access to services. 2SGBTQ+ must receive inclusive, affirming health care, emotional and mental health services, and support to provide optimal care. The training explores an in-depth knowledge of discussing sexual, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health needs with an intersectional lens. The discussions utilize sensitivity, cultural humility, and clinical importance to 2SGBTQ+ who use substances. The session will explore and provide skills for building a therapeutic relationship and alliance with 2SGBTQ+ men. Participants will explore best practices, evidence-based, trauma-informed care, and inclusive communications on complex topics via case studies and learning resources and provide client/patient-centred affirming healthcare to 2SGBTQ+. The training is a blended learning style utilizing didactic, videos, and case scenarios.

Introduction to PnP/Chemsex (Non-CME)

In this training, we explore the social and cultural context of Party & Play in gay, bi, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) communities. The interactive training provides foundational knowledge on the use of specific drugs/substances, specifically for sex, commonly referred to as Party & Play (PnP). The session examines the various drugs/substances used, and participants will learn of drug interactions and harm reduction in PnP. We further explore the importance of the holistic bio-psychosocial model via a trauma-informed lens. New research provides evidence on the PnP zones of engagement and harm reduction practice to work with GBMSM. Additionally, participants explore various PnP scenarios via case studies, learn of resources, and provide person-centred inclusive and affirming social services and healthcare through an intersectional lens. The training is a blended learning style utilizing didactic, videos/multimedia, problem-based learning, and resources.

PnP Community of Practice (Monthly)-

On the second Tuesday of each month, join the GMSH Coordinator of PnP/Chemsex Initiatives for an informal skills-building session and networking on all things PnP. These are particularly useful for GMSH alliance members and other front-line staff working in HIV service organizations.
